DTCC Surpasses $100 Trillion in Assets Under Custody Amid Market Growth
The Depository Trust & Clearing Corporation (DTCC) has reached a historic milestone, with its subsidiary The Depository Trust Company (DTC) now safeguarding over $100 trillion in assets. This surge reflects broader gains in U.S. market capitalization, with equities leading the charge at $74.1 trillion—a 49% jump from 2020 levels.
Exchange-traded funds (ETFs) emerged as the standout performer, doubling to $11 trillion during the same period. Money market instruments grew 28% to $4.1 trillion, underscoring diversified institutional demand. As the backbone of U.S. securities settlement, DTC's custody network processes over 1.44 million issues while mitigating systemic risk through centralized post-trade services.
